That's So Cringe, It's Hilarious (In a Way)
Sometimes you encounter situations so awful that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer extent of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping defense.
But then, you realize that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain terrible. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.
Ultimately, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You wonder about the nature of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Awful Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of terrible hair. I couldn't figure it to look presentable. As I was running out the door, I trippedover and spilled all over myself. To make matters worse, I was completely behind schedule for a very important appointment.
I arrived. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was no use.
The rest of the day was even worse. went wrong. I get anything done.
By the time I reached my destination, I was utterly defeated. This day, this atrocious day will be forever remembered as an epic fail.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
